Big Soo Terminal is a rail, truck and barge terminal located on the upper Missouri River in Sioux City, IA. For more than 45 years we have unloaded, handled, stored, and loaded bulk materials such as steel, iron ore, grains, fertilizer, and liquid products. We are strategically located at ext 143 on Interstate 29 with easy access to Highways 20, 60, and 75. Big Soo Terminal is the northern-most point of navigation on the Missouri River at river mile 728. Our facility is serviced six days per week by the Union Pacific railroad, allowing us to provide service via all three major forms of transportation – Barge, Rail, and Truck.
At Big Soo Terminal it is our philosophy that there is no project that we cannot handle. Our highly capable team of operators, millwrights, carpenters, and stevedores affords us the ability to develop efficient solutions to your most difficult storage and transportation problems. From oversized loads such as wind turbine nacelles to bulk commodities like rock, ore, and fertilizer; we can do it all.
The Big Soo Terminal facility 125,000 Tons of dry bulk storage space as well as 6 million gallons of liquid storage. Our capacity is further enhanced by our 15 acre laydown yard, perfect for the staging of oversize loads. Our 100,000 square foot warehouse facility offers warehousing and supply chain services via truck and rail. Our 300 foot river dock face offers the ability to trans load bulk product and oversize loads directly from barge to rail or truck and vice versa. An additional 1500 feet of riverfront property along the Missouri riverbank allows for custom barge applications to handle any load shipped up or down the river.
